8th Graders to Attend Ocean Institute
October 5, 2022
Eighth grade science students will be attending the Ocean Institute in Dana Point on the 20th and the 25th of October through a generous donation by Janine Harvey Smith.
Miss Koppany, one of our many amazing teachers here at IMS, teaches eighth grade science. She says that it was a tradition for students to go every year to the Ocean Institute of Dana Point. The students who would get to attend varied each year in the past. The field trip to the Ocean Institute used to happen every year. Yet because of distance learning, Imperial Middle School had to cancel it for the last couple of years. This is a three year program for the institute in Dana Point to donate to Imperial. This year, only the eighth graders will go. The way the program works is this: one half of the eighth graders go on the 20th of October and the other half of the students go on the 25th of October. “A fun time for students.”” — Miss Koppany
In Miss Koppany’s own words, “It’s a great way to expose kids to ocean biology, and I think we can all agree that this trip is not just a learning experience, but a fun time for students to be with friends.”
